East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS)

The East African Wild Life Society (EAWLS) is an organisation whose members are committed to conservation. Founded in 1961, EAWLS incorporates the members of the Wildlife Societies of Kenya and Tanzania, both founded in 1956, along with Ugandan conservation enthusiasts. Together we decry the extinction of both wildlife species and their habitats, fighting off forces that threaten to bring imbalances to our ecosystem. As a Society we strive to conserve East Africa’s wildlife and wild habitats by:

  • Supporting the National Parks infrastructure and the region’s anti-poaching measures and wildlife sanctuaries.

  • Educating the public on conservation through community initiatives, student outreach programmes, public discussions and the dissemination of conservation materials.

  • Carrying out effective research to enhance the conservation and protection of life in the wild.

  • Translocating endangered species to safer areas.
